Cybersecurity Professional (all experience levels may apply)

Springfield, Vermont, United States

Description

We believe that in the age of the internet, tech workers shouldn’t need to cram themselves into a city, spend hours and hours commuting each week, and pay thousands of dollars a month in rent to have a great job.

That's why Rural Innovation Strategies, Inc (RISI) is helping a variety of partner companies build out remote teams from the Black River Innovation Campus (BRIC) in Springfield, VT. And because we need to act quickly, we're currently giving out special incentives like free access to the remote working/co-working space, free coffee from a local roaster, ski passes, and for the first six hires, newly renovated downtown apartments (with gigabit speed internet included) for $100/month. For more information on BRIC and the remote working program, see www.bricvt.org/remote-work.

Springfield, Vermont, is in close proximity to skiing at Okemo Mountain, as well as countless hiking and biking trails, and swimming holes. The town has seen exciting growth in the past year, with the opening of a new coffee roaster, a new craft beer taproom, a new bistro, and a food co-op all in the downtown area. Though Springfield has exceptional access to pristine outdoor recreation and the natural environment, it is also well connected physically and virtually, with 10 gigabit fiber internet capacity in every building in town, and public transportation that makes for easy trips to Boston, NYC, and beyond. And as part of the greater Dartmouth College region and the Upper Valley, Springfield has ample access to art, theater, cultural events, and more all within a 30-minute drive.

Here’s how the remote working initiative is set up: Employees will report to and work for companies based elsewhere in the United States. For the most part, managers will not be on-site, though team members and coworkers likely will. Open positions are full time, with opportunity for growth and professional development, and competitive compensation.

BRIC will provide a modern remote-working, co-working, and entrepreneurship space with secure gigabit internet connectivity. BRIC will also train all new hires in best practices for working remotely and being part of a distributed team, provide light workplace support, and organize social and professional events and trainings for all remote workers.

Note that BRIC and RISI are providing connections to employers, but are not making final hiring decisions. We will provide your application materials to our partners that have current openings, and work with you at every step of the process to make sure that if you want to join the remote work movement from Vermont, you can.
